Cushinstown AFC have been reinstated in the LFA Junior Shield after it was discovered that NEFL side Rathmullen Celtic had played an ineligible player in their recent tie in Drogheda in January. The home side won the match 3-1 but it was subsequently found out that the goalkeeper for Rathmullen had been sent off in the previous round and under the "automatic suspension" rule, the player would have been suspended for one game.

Cushinstown lodged an official protest which was heard last night by the LFA Disciplinary committee and they ruled in favour of the Wexford League club. Rathmullen do have a right of appeal but are unlikely to do so and Cushinstown will face Cabra Celtic in the last sixteen of the competition on the weekend of February 25th
