Wexford and District Women’s and Schoolgirls League 06-06-2021

The weekend of June 19th/20th will see a return to competitive in football as the Wexford Women’s and Schoolgirls League kick off a return to play Summer competition for the various teams in a position to play.

The league are providing competitions for Women’s, Under Seventeen, Fifteen, Thirteen, Twelve, Eleven and Ten age groups with an Under Nineteen section to be confirmed depending on entries. The reason for the odd age groups is to facilitate players who did not get to play in their own age group for unplayed 2020-21 season.

The response to the Summer competition has been quite positive, especially at seventeens, fifteens and thirteens, with initial games in the various competitions being played at regional level and then progressing on to knockout stages

Nine adult teams have taken the plunge and these will be divided into a Premier / One group and a Division Two group

The object of these competitions is to get players back playing sport which after the fifteen months we have all experienced, this can only be positive for everyone involved. There is no entry fee for these tournaments but all players who play must be registered to be eligible. While entries for these tournaments are officially closed, if any club do decide to enter, we will do all we can to accommodate this and if interested, clubs should contact either their league liaison or league secretary

It is intended to have these competitions completed by second week of August and then clubs can begin their preparation for the 2021-22 season, which will hopefully see a return to normality

Fixtures and format will be published next weekend for the following weekend kick off
